Dr. Merry Frons, Ph.D., LCSW, CAC, CSAT, is a Licensed Psychotherapist and board certified Sex Therapist specializing in individual and couples therapy and has been in practice for more than 20 years. After training in psychodynamic psychotherapy at NYU’s Silver School of Social Work, she was program director for Volunteers of America, a large non-profit organization in New York. Early in her career, Dr. Frons worked at Silver Hill and St. Vincent’s Hospitals in Connecticut and at several group psychotherapy practices. She completed her clinical training in sexology at the American Academy of Clinical Sexologists in Orlando, Florida. Dr. Frons has received advanced training in neuroscience, addictions, couples’ therapy, attachment theory, AEDP, clinical hypnosis and EMDR.
Dr. Frons is board certified by the American Academy of Clinical Sexology and AASECT, the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists. She was trained by Patrick Carnes in the Task Centered Model of treating Sexual Addiction and works with partners of sex addicts in helping the couple and individuals refocus their lives and relationship for healing.
Dr. Frons is a member of NASW, the National Association of Social Workers, SSTAR, the Society for Sexuality Therapy and Research, IITAP, International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Psychotherapy, EMDRIA, EMDR International Association and HAP, the EMDR humanitarian assistance program.
Melissa Samuel, MSW, LCSW is a licensed clinical social worker who graduated from Ithaca College with a BA in sociology and a minor in art. Melissa began her career working at a residential treatment facility for children and adolescents with emotional problems and developmental disabilities. Melissa became interested in ABA (applied behavioral analysis) and went on the work with individuals with autism before deciding to pursue her MSW. Melissa attended New York University School of Social Work where she obtained her MSW in 2002. Since that time, she has worked in many different settings including family court, inpatient and outpatient hospital settings and in private practice.
Melissa has been employed at Bellevue Hospital Center since 2007 working primarily on the child and adolescent in-patient psychiatric unit treating patients with ADHD, PTSD, mood and anxiety disorders and autism spectrum disorders. She has also worked on the adult psychiatric inpatient units and on adult forensic units. Melissa has had extensive training in CBT, trauma-focused cbt, PCIT (parent-child interaction therapy) structural family therapy, mindfulness and psychodynamic therapy. Melissa continues to receive on going psychotherapy training at many of Manhattan’s training institutes such as the Ackerman Center, Albert Ellis Institute and NYU School of Continuing Education and values continuing to develop her skill and technique.
Erin Raggio completed her M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy at Mercy College. She has been working at Renew Counseling since September 2014 providing counseling to couples, families and individuals, as well as leading weekly women’s groups.
Shawna Hussey obtained a Bachelor’s in English and Writing at Siena College and a Master’s in English Education from the College of Saint Rose before focusing on her passion for relationships and pursuing a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at Iona College in New Rochelle, NY. An avid writer, runner and traveler, she has been a therapist at Renew Counseling since August 2015 and focuses primarily on working with young adult individuals and couples, as well as leading weekly women’s groups.
